Hi, I’m Amy Antrim
Thank you for being curious about me and how I could help serve our city.
I was born and raised in Salina, Kansas. The daughter of public school teachers. My grandfather served the state of Kansas as a highway patrol officer. My mother was raised near by on a farm in Miami County. When I was young, my father transitioned into real estate, first as an agent and later as a broker. From both of my parents, I learned that hard work, service, and dedication are keys to success.
I graduated from Kansas State University and became a case worker for adults with severe and persistent mental illness in Emporia, Kansas. The work was deeply rewarding, and I found meaning in supporting a population that is often overlooked.
While I loved the work, I felt limited in how effective I could be in that role. When I met the love of my life, my husband, we moved to Johnson County, and I took a leap of faith, beginning a new career in real estate.
I began working in new construction, alongside builders and developers, and gained a front-row seat to the way our community is shaped. I also saw the impact those developments had on the families who made them home. Helping people find not just houses, but communities where they could live their best lives, became my mission.
Over the last two decades, the housing market has gone through dramatic changes. Helping first-time buyers achieve the dream of homeownership is harder than ever, and the crash of 2008 made helping sellers move incredibly difficult. Still, my business endured, and I’ve been able to provide for my family while supporting my clients through good times and bad. I understand deeply what makes our community an attractive place to live – and have seen firsthand the rising cost of housing and the challenges that presents for so many families.
Speaking of family—they are my why.
When our first daughter, Sophia, was born, she came with a little extra: a third copy of the 21st chromosome. Sophia has Down syndrome, and her arrival introduced us to a beautiful, resilient community we knew little about. She taught us the value of inclusion, authenticity, and celebrating differences. The Kansas City area offered us world-class medical care and supportive services—but navigating those resources wasn’t always easy. Through it all, we felt the deep compassion and acceptance of Overland Park. Sophia continues to teach us about the power of being wholly yourself.
When our second daughter, Elowyn, was born, we learned that although her path was different (she hit every milestone right on time), her needs were fundamentally the same: love, acceptance, opportunity, and community.
We feel incredibly fortunate to raise our daughters in a city that provides so much —from therapies, to sports and arts programs, to beautiful parks and nature trails. Places like Deanna Rose and our award-winning schools have helped them learn and grow. I believe that with being given so much, much is expected
I’m ready to give back.
I want to help preserve and expand the incredible benefits Overland Park offers—so that future generations can thrive here too. I want to advocate for housing our children will be able to afford, and for parks and trails they can enjoy. I want to protect the values that define our community—and make sure every family feels welcome and supported.
That’s why I’m running for City Council.
